Iran says it's raising its enrichment of uranium, breaking another limit of its unravelling 2015 nuclear deal with world powers and further heightening tensions between Tehran and the U-S.

Without giving details, a government spokesman told a news conference Sunday that "today we will pass" the permitted enrichment level of 3.67 per cent.

The decision comes a year after U-S President Donald Trump withdrew America from the nuclear deal.

The U-S has since imposed sanctions blocking Iranian crude oil from being sold on the world market, and Iran acknowledged this past week to breaking the deal's 300-kilogram limit on its low-enriched uranium stockpile.

Experts warn higher enrichment and a growing stockpile narrows the one-year window Iran would need to have enough material for an atomic bomb.(1)



There is word that wealthy financier and registered sex offender Jeffrey Epstein has been arrested in New York on new sex-trafficking charges.

Two U-S law-enforcement officials anonymously report the 66-year-old was taken into federal custody Saturday on charges stemming from allegations dating back to the 2000s.

The hedge fund manager once counted U-S President Donald Trump among his friends and has homes in New York and Palm Beach, Florida.
