TOM Hamer says it was an easy decision to put pen to paper on a new two-year deal with Oldham.

The contract takes the 19-year-old defender to 2022 with the League Two club.

And the academy product says he couldn't be happier to get it sorted ahead of the new season.

"I'm delighted to have signed a new contract, it's a club where I've been for pretty much all my career as a professional and through the youth academy," he told the club's website.

"I'm buzzing to have got it all sorted out and finally signed.

"I didn't really have to think about it, I've played a lot of games and at my age that's a good thing to have done, early in my career.

"I played 35 games last season and as a 19-year-old that's the best thing that you can be doing in first team football. …
