(Kenney-Trudeau)

Alberta Premier Jason Kenney took to Twitter over the weekend to say the people of his province have been "rightfully frustrated" by an "unfair deal," saying he doesn't want to let Prime Minister Justin Trudeau -- quote -- "push us out of our country."

During his campaign to become premier, Kenney was outspoken about opposing Trudeau on issues including the carbon tax and equalization payments.

Trudeau's office has not issued a statement in response to the premier but Alberta Liberal cabinet minister Amarjeet Sohi did weigh in.

Sohi says the federal government is delivering for the province despite the "premier's rhetoric." (The Canadian Press)

The Correctional Service of Canada is investigating the death of an inmate at Drumheller Institution in Alberta.

The C-S-C says 42-year-old Jason Claude Tremblay died Sunday while in custody.

Since late March, Tremblay had been serving a four-year-and-nine-month sentence for drug-related crimes.

A lockdown was put in place at the jail's medium security unit to allow staff to conduct a search. (The Canadian Press)

A search of a river in northern Manitoba for signs of two murder suspects has ended.

An R-C-M-P dive team arrived in Gillam on Sunday and checked "significant areas of interest'' on the Nelson River after a damaged aluminum boat was found on the shore.

The Gillam area has been the focus since late last month in the hunt for 18-year-old Bryer Schmegelsky and 19-year-old Kam McLeod, who are wanted in connection to the deaths of three people last month in B.C.

Police say a roadblock has been put in place in the area of Sundance, northeast of Gillam, for other search efforts, but they declined to provide further details. (The Canadian Press)
