Momentum 2022 Leadership Changes Hands

The head of Momentum 2022 and her successor expect a smooth transition this week as the strategy shifts hands.

Kayla Bitler-Loschke will leave her role Sept. 13 as the Greater Topeka Partnership’s vice president of strategy for Momentum 2022. The GTP’s Michelle Stubblefield — who previously ran the Leadership Greater Topeka program and helped with events for Downtown Topeka Inc. — will take her place.

“Michelle has always exhibited great leadership ability in our organization, and I feel confident that she’s going to do the same with Momentum 2022 and with whatever strategy comes after Momentum 2022,” Bitler-Loschke said.

She added it was “exciting” for the partnership to be able to promote from within.

“We were really excited to have the opportunity to do that with this position,” Bitler-Loschke said. “Because we do — we’ve got a great team here.”

Stubblefield said she has always considered herself a “utility player.”

“I like doing multiple things, so I’m just excited for the opportunity,” she said. “I was born and raised in Topeka, and I’ve been involved in Heartland Visioning from Day 1, the very beginning, and this has been a great transition into Momentum 2022. It’s nice to see a strategy that’s come into play that we’re actually doing something with. And keeping that going is super exciting.”

Bitler-Loschke is leaving the GTP to serve as manager of customer accounting for Kansas Gas Service.

“I opted to take this position with Kansas Gas just because it provided some opportunities for myself and my family,” Bitler-Loschke said.

She added that she knows Momentum 2022 is in good hands.

Stubblefield and Bitler-Loschke spent the week making sure all loose ends were tied, ensuring a seamless transition. But as they noted, Momentum 2022 has been far more than a one-person operation. …
