The first seven campaign days since the federal election was called featured party leaders promising to help families should they win power next month.

Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau vowed a re-elected Liberal goverment would boost the Canada Child Benefit by 15 per cent for children under age one, and make E-I benefit cheques for maternity and parental leave tax-free.

Conservative leader Andrew Scheer promised to boost Ottawa's contribution to registered education savings plans to match 30 per cent of parents' contributions, instead of the current 20, for a maximum annual federal contribution of 750-dollars.

N-D-P Leader Jagmeet Singh pledged to build a half-million new affordable homes across the country in 10 years.(1)



Commissioner Brenda Lucki says an R-C-M-P employee who was arrested for allegedly trying disclose classified information to a foreign entity or terrorist group was supporting a U-S Federal Bureau of Investigation probe before his arrest last week.

She says investigators came across documents during a joint F-B-I probe last year that led Mounties to believe there could be a mole among the group.

Cameron Ortis (ORH'-tis) faces charges under the Security of Information Act and two Criminal Code charges.

Lucki would not comment on what foreign entity is involved, or what information Ortis could access in his role as director general of the R-C-M-P's National Intelligence Co-ordination Centre.(1)



Chances are slim that Benjamin Netanyahu will hold a fifth term as Israel's prime minister.

Israel's two main parties were deadlocked early Wednesday after an unprecedented repeat election.

The election's seeming political kingmaker, Avigdor Lieberman, said he'll insist upon a secular unity government between Netanyahu's Likud and Benny Gantz's Blue and White parties.
