Police in southern Ontario have cancelled an Amber Alert, but say their dogged search continues for five children allegedly abducted by their father over a week ago.

Niagara regional police issued the Amber Alert Tuesday afternoon, though it automatically expired in the evening.

The Asian children range in age from five to 14, and were last seen in the community of Jordan, Ontario, just west of St. Catharines, with their father.

Investigators allege 49-year-old Ian MacDermid took the kids from their family home sometime between September 19th and 25th, and is contravening a temporary custody order.

Ontario Child and Family Services investigated and found that the children may be in danger.(1)
