I am a human being first and foremost. By profession, I am a professor of Biology at the University of Colorado at Boulder. I was born in Brooklyn, New York, on the 6th of September 1945. I grew up in a very warm, compassionate, and loving household, and always felt very close to non-human animal beings (“animals”).
I enjoy numerous activities. I love my “work,” and I do not really think of it as “work.” I ride my bike 8,000–12,000 miles a year, love to read spy novels and mysteries, and enjoy all sorts of music. I love spending time with my companion dog, Jethro. He is a true hero in that he is incredibly compassionate and constantly reminds me of the power of compassion and reverence for all life.
