LIFE SATISFACTION

Throughout this book, there is an emphasis is on the importance of developing a playful, non-hurried approach to fitness. Along with nutritious eating, enjoyable exercise provides the key to staying in shape. However, if you are engaging in fitness activities that you find stressful or boring, you will probably find ways to diminish or avoid them. On the other hand, having fun can benefit your health, appearance, and mental vitality. Regularly pursuing pleasurable activities helps to increase your confidence, self-esteem, and life satisfaction.


SETTING PRIORITIES

Time to engage in enjoyable activities is priceless. Unfortunately, many in our fast-paced society never seem to set aside regular periods for play. Although advancing technology has the potential to provide abundant opportunities for leisurely pursuits, it more often leads to an expectation for a greater amount of work at a faster pace. Far too many adults get so caught up in a multitude of responsibilities that they leave themselves little time for life’s basic pleasures.

Do you feel like you are always falling behind your expectations? Relatively few people seem satisfied with their current level of productivity. The vast majority of Americans seem as if they are frantically trying to catch up in at least one major area of their lives. They hurry while feeling chronically behind schedule. Whether they are executives, professionals, blue-collar workers, stay-at-home parents, single or married, they tend to share the perception of
