My grandmother's passport is written in French. At the time she took to travel she was twenty-four and Lebanon and Syria were under French mandate. The year was mil neuf cent vingt et un, 1921. This document, issued by the Haut Commissariat de la Republique Française in Beirut, grants Mlle. Victoria Brahim Simon, born in Lebanon (Liban) in 1897 in Douma, died in___, permission to visit Los Angeles, California, U.S.A. to be reunited with her mother and brothers. It describes every detail of her anatomy:
