It is inevitable that a book which describes areas of law which there is no space to discuss in detail will contain errors of commission and omission. I hope they will not change the balance of any part of the book in a material way. It should be unnecessary to add that any errors that remain are my responsibility.
I owe thanks to the Solicitors Family Law Association for permission to reprint the list of courts in England and Wales which have divorce jurisdiction. I have to thank Gordon Gibb for check-ing Chapter 3.I am also grateful to the Law Society for permission to reproduce its guidance to solicitors in relation to the pension information and questionnaire reproduced in Appendix 4.
My particular gratitude is due to Gareth Morgan of Dodona for his chapter on benefits and for all the help he and his colleague Clive Trott have given me in writing the chapter on maintenance of children. Their knowledge of the interstices of Department of Social Security and Child Support regulations is unrivalled.
