The ethnographic report that appears in Chapter 4 is a composite based on research reports submitted by students enrolled in Unit 86208, Sociological Systems within Schools, in the Upgrade/BEd programme of the School of Education, University of Southern Queensland. Supporting material to the ethnography is reproduced by kind permission of the Distance Education Centre, University of Southern Queensland.

The sample practitioner-based enquiry, ‘Information Technology and Geographical Education’, that appears in Chapter 5 was originally published under the joint authorship of Raymond Felton and Louis Murray in the Journal of Teacher Development (Vol. 4, No. 2, 1995, pp. 28-36).
