Part III

The Practice of Theory

In Parts I and II in this book we have been concerned to give an account of Bourdieu’s theory of practice and show how it might be used in particular research contexts. In effect, we have offered both theory and practice. However, the main underlying theme of this book is that these two are not separate but joint activities as they both involve the same epistemological issues. The present chapter acts as a link between the practical applications in Part II, and the discussion of basic guiding principles for conducting research from a Bourdieuian perspective to be found in Chapter 9.
