Bibliography

I. BOOKS AND PAMPHLETS
A PPROXIMATELY two thousand five hundred books and pamphlets have been consulted, but since considerations of space do not permit a complete bibliographical listing, only those sources are given which have been cited in the text or in the footnotes, or which have been most helpful to the author. Books and pamphlets published before the Spanish Civil War have not been included unless they have actually been cited in this work. All publications marked with an asterisk are in private possession, but photographic reproductions, either of the entire publication or of the pages referred to in the present work, are in the Hoover Institute and Library. All other books and pamphlets listed are in one or more of the libraries specified at the beginning of this volume, unless otherwise stated.
