The expedition from Goodriche's Landing is now five days out. Between Steeles movement and this one it will confuse the enemy so as to make Banks entry into Texas easy.

Your letter of the 10th inst. asking if "Democratic" newspapers, pamphlets &c. will be allowed to circulate within this Army, and stating that it is reported that such documents are destroyed by Postmasters, Provost Marshals &c. is received.
There can scarsely be a foundation for the report you speak of. If such a thing has ever been done in any one instance it has been without authority and has never been reported to me.
