I have the honor to apply for a transfer from the 4th Infantry to the Dragoons.
I am encouraged to make application for a transfer to that arm of service which was my first choice on leaving the Military Academy, from the fact that there is, at this time, no one of the graduates of the same class with myself holding appointments in this arm, and that there is one less number of Bvts in the Reg. for which I apply than in the 4th Inf.
