P. S. Dearest Julia since writing the above I rec'd a letter from Mrs. Porter. It was sealed with black wax and the direction did not seem to be in your hand This allarmed me a little but you cannot immagine my allarm when I saw your brother's name was signed to the last page. But the sweet note from your dear self restored me to confidence of my dearest Julias health. You must not neglect to write as your pa advises you for all your letters reach me. Two or three months ago I sent Mrs. Porter a check on Col. Cumming 4 enclosed in a letter to you. Did you ever get the letter? If you did not Mrs. Porter will not loose the money for no one els could draw it but it will take some time for me to find out if you got it and to send another. write Dearest Julia
