(35:1) Moses assembled the entire assembly of the children of Israel and said to them, “These are the things that God has commanded you to do.”
Moses … said to them The verses that follow deal with Shabbat. Why mention Shabbat again? After all, it has been discussed before. It is appropriate to mention it here, because it says “Let them make Me a sanctuary” (25:8). I might think that they are allowed to build the tabernacle even on Shabbat. Therefore, it says “You may do work during the six weekdays”—you are to build it on weekdays, but not on Shabbat. The building of the tabernacle does not override the laws of Shabbat (Mechilta).
