Deuteronomy 26:1–29:8
(26:1) It will be when you enter the land that God your Lord is giving you as a heritage, occupying and settling it.
It will be when you enter the land Perform the mitzvah of bikkurim, “firstfruits, ” mentioned in this portion. In its merit, you will enter the land (Sifrei).
(26:3) You shall come to the priest officiating at the time, and say to him: Today I am affirming to God your Lord that I have come to the land that God swore to our forefathers to give to us.
to our forefathers A convert brings bikkurim, “firstfruits, ” but he does not recite the formula, for the phrase “that God swore to our forefathers” does not apply to him (Jerusalem Talmud, Bikkurim 1:4).]
