and the FREE ACCESS ISSUE
Dissemination is an essential, even strategic, component of digital publishing. The simple presence of journals on the Internet does not guarantee adequate visibility and influence. 1 For that reason, it is advisable to develop dissemination and implementation strategies appropriate to the virtual environment and to back them with adequate human and financial resources. Three major components of the dissemination process can be identified: the accessibility and ergonomics of the site, the dissemination formats and services offered and the strategic action to position the site on the Web.
Optimization of the dissemination of a journal or collection of journals depends on a number of factors including, at the outset, the attention paid to Web site design. Accessibility is one of the features that makes a site an effective communication tool for research.
