Xa Loi Pagoda.
One of the Buddhist pagodas occupied by Army of Vietnam (ARVN) troops during a crackdown on dissident elements in Saigon was the Xa Loi Pagoda. The police and army troops arrested a number of Buddhist priests during the operation which was ordered by Ngo Dinh Diem (qv), Vietnam's president.
Xuan, Nguyen Van.
On 5 June 1948, the State of Vietnam was established by the Baie d'Along (Ha Long Bay) Agreement. The agreement was signed by Bao Dai (qv), by the French high commissioner for Indochina, Emile Bollaert and by General Nguyen Van Xuan. Bao Dai was designated chief of state within the French Union.
Xuan Loc (Xa Xuan Loc).
On 6 November 1969, the North Vietnamese delegate to the Paris peace talks on Vietnam criticized U.S. president Richard M. Nixon (qv) for disclosing information on the secret peace talks. Ironically, North Vietnam had already rejected the accords that had been reached.
