Many individuals inside and outside the Air Force provided valuable assistance and support to our work. We separate our acknowledgments into those for individuals who helped our efforts in gathering data associated with Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) and those who helped us in gathering data associated with Joint Task Force Noble Anvil (JTF NA).
We thank Brigadier General James Hunt and Colonel Thomas Entwistle of Task Force Enduring Look (TFEL), AF/CVAX, for sponsoring this analysis. Mr. Richard Bird of TFEL was also very helpful in providing access to data. Without their support, we would not have been able to undertake this analysis.
We are also grateful to Lieutenant General Michael Zettler, Deputy Chief of Staff, Installations and Logistics (AF/IL) during Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF), for his support of this effort. General Zettler sponsored some of our earlier research associated with developing Agile Combat Support (ACS) concepts, asking that we specifically investigate operations in Afghanistan to determine whether this experience might change some of our ACS analyses and conclusions. Major General Jeff Kohler, Director of Operations Plans (AF/XOX) during OEF, was also instrumental in requesting our assistance in examining combat support lessons resulting from OEF and taking appropriate steps to include lessons in the design of the ACS system of the future.
