Detective Matt Sikes:
Detective George Francisco:
Based on the movie of the same name. LAPD detective Matt Sikes is teamed with George Francisco, a Newcomer, one of the alien refugees from a crashed spaceship. The Newcomers are now being assimilated into Southern California life. Matt is initially ignorant and somewhat prejudiced about Newcomers, but learns a lot and changes his attitudes while working with George. Plots involve police investigations of crimes involving Newcomers; subplots include Matt and George's developing partnership, family crises in the Francisco clan, and the potential romance between Matt and Cathy, his Newcomer neighbor. Newcomer religious and child-rearing practices are also featured. Broader-ranging than the obvious cross of science fiction and cop show, the series was canceled because Fox chose to drop its hour-long shows in favor of half-hour comedies.
