adolescent girls, and women. I also encouraged research opportunities in this new direction of inquiry. By focusing on psychology's strengths within our national organization, the American Psychological Association, I was able to bring the power of psychology to bear on a major issue of our time—quality health care for all. Like an architect, I built frameworks that others filled in so that together we built lasting structures.
