RE: Issues from the first group discussion
Thanks again for your time and sincere commentary. Despite the fiasco of the shredded tape, my backup system worked and I have our conversation on tape. Since it will take a while to get the tape transcribed, I would like to clarify a few issues that came up and [a few that] didn't come up but could have. Since Barry's neck problem will keep him from being in school, would it be possible to put your comments and decisions in some kind of written form and circulate them to all members of the group?
1. After the tape broke, the discussion about who determines faculty in- service program continued, and led into the possibility of our group formulating recommendations on faculty in-service program and presenting them to the administration. Sue's position was that the administration would be glad of input, and Barry's position was that they would be threatened by our input. Comments were also made about the outcomes from Barry's and my involvement in the CEA, [Cocalico Education Association] and that they have been somewhat significant and unexpected. The implication is that it is difficult to predict what will be the outcomes of teacher involvement in educational issues that arise in our school. The question is, do we want to pursue this by developing our conversation from its current form and function, to something related to what we were discussing? If so other questions would be as follows:
