Dr. Andrew Kuper was born and raised in South Africa, and holds his PhD from Cambridge University, UK. He has been a Fellow of Trinity College, Cambridge, and a visiting scholar at Harvard and Columbia Universities. As Senior Associate at the Carnegie Council on International Affairs, he directed the project on multilateral strategies to promote democracy. He was also Co-Director of Kuper Research, a media and sociopolitical consultancy based in South Africa.
Dr. Kuper is now a Managing Director at Ashoka - Innovators for the Public, an organization that supports social entrepreneurs around the world.
He has published on the media and democracy, charity and global poverty relief, globalization and international law, and the role of corporations in development. He is the editor of Global Responsibilities: Securing Rights By Defining Obligations.
