PHILIP M. ANDERSON is Professor of Secondary Education at Queens College, and Professor of Urban Education and Executive Officer of the Ph.D. Program in Urban Education at the City University of New York. His publications cen- ter on aesthetics, reader response, curriculum development, and cultural theory. His current research examines the inherent contradictions within cul- tural theory and curriculum practice in the United States.

ELEANOR ARMOUR-THOMAS, currently Chairperson of the Department of Secondary Education, is also Professor of Educational Psychology. Her research interests center around assessment of cognition and culture related to classroom learning and teaching.

ROYMIECO A. CARTER, M.F.A., is Visiting Assistant Professor in the School of Computer Science, Technology, and Information Systems at DePaul University. He is also a graphic designer and lectures on design, multimedia, web design, computer graphics and animation, and social criticism.

KOSHI DHINGRA is a science educator who currently resides in Dallas, Texas, but has lived in New York City for fourteen years. She has taught middle and high school science as well as undergraduate and graduate-level science teacher education courses in New York City. Her research interests include science learned in free-choice settings such as museums, television, and the Internet.
