No. 114
CONVENTION ON MARITIME NEUTRALITY

Signed at Havana, 20 February 1928

INTRODUCTORY NOTE: The present Convention, which was adopted at the Sixth International Conference of American States at Havana in 1928, was based on a project drafted by the American Institute of International Law at its session in Havana in 1917. Many of its provisions reproduce substantially or literally the rules of the Hague Convention (XIII) of 1907 (No. 113). It contains, however, some innovations and additions to the latter Convention, some of which are based on the experiences of World War I.

ENTRY INTO FORCE: 12 January 1931.

AUTHENTIC TEXTS: English, French, Portuguese, Spanish. The text below is reprinted from LNTS, Vol. 135, pp. 187–217.
