Sources of Ethnographic Information
in Wallace and Hoebel (1952)
In Appendix B, I have attempted to trace the materials in Ernest Wallace and E. Adamson Hoebel's The Comanches: Lords of the South Plains, to information recorded in the Field Notes. I was able to connect 428 statements in Wallace and Hoebel to the Notes, although less than half are explicitly cited (192; see also Thurman 1982). The proportionate contributions of the various consultants are as follows.
In the concordance below, the same protocol applies as in Appendix A. In addition, counter instances—when a consultant directly contradicts published material—are indicated with an asterisk.
