feelings (Skill Area 6)

Session aims and preparation

Key learning aims
Students:Expand their vocabulary for describing a range of feelings Become better at reading a person's facial expressions and body language to determine broadly how they are feeling (happy, sad, worried, angry, excited, bored, pleased)
Understand that we usually experience lots of different feelings each day

General aims
Students:Empathize more readily with peers by being able to detect with greater sensitivity how they are feeling
Express their own feelings more effectively, enhancing opportunities for appropriate support from others Are better able to move forward from unhappy or angry feelings by understanding that we experience a range of feelings and emotions every day

Link area of PSHE and Citizenship Curriculum

Students recognize and name feelings, and they are able to
express positive things about self and others. Students recognize
feelings in different situations. They start to manage emotions
more effectively. Students express their feelings and recognize
the impact they have on others.
