Session aims and preparation

Key learning aims
Students:Recognize that people vary in their opinion and understanding of social situations, bring different experiences and motivations to situations and often have different wishes and goals
Understand that differences in opinion, understanding, experience and motivation can sometimes lead to misunderstanding and conflict
Develop strategies for analyzing confrontational situations and resolving conflict in a socially acceptable manner

General aims
Students:Appreciate diversity in people and accept human differences by developing greater tolerance of others
Increase their use of effective strategies to both avoid and cope with conflict
Develop further their listening skills

Link area of PSHE and Citizenship Curriculum

Students are able to respect human difference and form effective
relationships


Materials needed

Information gathering sheets, bluish-green colour card (to be
provided by teacher), Object Cards, magazines, A1 paper,
crayons


Suggested additional materials

Hats and scarves for role-play
