Youth Must Be Served
The Can-Am League in New Jersey
Young New Jersey baseball players. They all could have made it, if not for the accident of birth. After all, in New Jersey, they could not play ball all year round like the fortunate kids in California, Florida, and other warm-weather areas of the country. If only they could have had that chance to practice and compete in winter leagues like those West Coast kids, they could have been just as successful. At least they all think that way. The dream dies hard, and for many young men who played baseball in New Jersey or other northeastern colleges and universities over the years, their careers typically ended on graduation day
