Headquarters 25th U. S. Infantry,
Iba, Zambales, P. I.,
February 5, 1900.
It is my painful duty to announce to the regiment the death of 1st
Lieutenant W. T. Schenck, Adjutant, 2nd Battalion. He was killed in
action, January 29, 1900, near Castillejos, Zambales Province.
Lieutenant Schenck, as we all know, was a most energetic, efficient
officer, a good soldier, and a steadfast friend. He died gallantly at the head
of his command.
Owing to the existing field conditions the usual badge of mourning will
A. S. Burt,
Colonel, 25th Infantry,
