Denominational architectural offices reviewed plans, published guide books and informa-
tional pamphlets, and assisted architects. The Southern Baptist Sunday School Board’s De-
partment of Church Architecture also created what were essentially stock plans. Intended
to provide a starting point for congregations in their consultations with architects, some
smaller congregations used the plans, in connection with the department’s staff, to create
