(The Ten Hymns of
Disgust with Life)

1. To whom else can I appeal against You!

Our Lord! You expanded from earth to heaven, You exist and fill everywhere. You shine in all glory. Look, I have no support but You, Oh King of Shivapuram! Shiva who dwells in sacred Perunthurai, if You who made me Yours should deny me Your grace, then to whom shall I complain and who shall I blame? Look, I cannot bear this life on earth surrounded by Sea. In Your mercy, call me to come to You!


2. You are unknown to gods!

Oh! Supreme Guru, the gem, You made my wretched self Your slave. Look, I have no other support except Your self. The gods themselves do not know of Your unique form. You elude the minds of both. Oh Lord of red-hue, You are Shivapuram’s King. You are Shiva who resides in sacred Perunthurai! You are the One supreme Lord who rules over me. In grace, do command me to come to You.


3. I would rejoice with You and quarrel too!
