1782/3 JA and sister Cassandra at Mrs Cawley's boarding- school in Oxford.
1783 By this year JA's brother Edward is adopted by Thomas Knight the younger and his wife, of Godmersham in Kent, as evidenced by formal silhouette of his presentation to the Knights. Mrs Cawley's boarding-school moves to Southampton (Oct.). JA, Cassandra, and cousin Jane Cooper seriously ill of typhoid fever; aunt Jane Cooper, after nursing her daughter, dies of typhoid.
