ACTIVITY 76
Thank-You Round Robin
It’s not always easy to find the best way to say “thank you.” The most effective thank-you’s are immediate, specific, sincere, and special. Accepting a thankyou can be hard, too. This activity provides practice in both giving and receiving thanks.PURPOSE:
✓ To be able to give sincere and specific thank-you’s
✓ To practice saying and receiving a thank-you
TIME: 20 minutesDIRECTIONS:
1. Explain to participants the purpose of Activity 76: that while it can be difficult to say “thank you” in the workplace, there is nothing more powerful for co-worker morale or customer delight.
2. Ask participants to select a partner to work with. Distribute copies of Activity 76 and ask participants to take a few minutes to prepare responses to the assignment. Allow 3 to 5 minutes.
3. Have participants take turns saying and accepting the thank-you’s they have prepared. Allow 7 or 8 minutes for this exchange.
4. Use the following questions to debrief:
How did it make you feel to say “thank you”?
As you went along, did it get easier or harder?
