ACTIVITY 94
Coping with Change
Dealing with change in a fast-paced service environment can be a real challenge. Change is a constant for businesses these days: economic ups and downs, changing demands of customers, new technologies, challenges of doing more with less. Trying to keep up with everyday work demands and adapting to change can be a tough double whammy.PURPOSE:
✓ To support associates dealing with change
✓ To encourage productive behaviors that help move people forward and discourage clinging to the past
✓ To open up conversation about the stresses that change creates
TIME: 30 minutesDIRECTIONS:
1. Explain to participants that this activity is designed to acknowledge the stresses of dealing with change in a fast-paced environment.
2. Ask participants to describe the ways things are changing in their environment. Record these changes on chart paper or white board for everyone to see.
3. Ask the participants to form small groups of three to four people each. Distribute copies of Part A of Activity 94 and have them respond as teams to form their lists. Allow 4 to 6 minutes for this task.
