STUART ALLEN lectures on Media and Cultural Studies at the University of Glamorgan. He is a series editor in Cultural Studies for the Open University Press, and the deputy editor of the journal Time & Society, published by Sage. His publications are primarily in the areas of media sociology, cultural theory and nuclear issues, and include the book, coedited with Barbara Adam, Theorizing Culture: An Interdisciplinary Critique after Postmodernism ( 1995).
AMY BETH ARONSON received her Ph.D. from Columbia University in New York. She is currently a lecturer in Media Studies at the New School for Social Research, and has previously lectured at New York University and Rutgers University. She has also done editorial work for several American women's magazines, including Family Circle and Working Woman.
DAVID J. ATKIN, Ph.D., M.A. ( Michigan State University), A.B. ( University of California, Berkeley) is an Associate Professor in the Department of Communication at Cleveland State University. His research interests include the past and present diffusion of new media and the access opportunities they create for underrepresented groups.
