Who's Who in Oil & Gas Sector in Pakistan


Mr. Aitzaz Shahbaz joined Burmah Shell in 1953 and held various Management positions till 1967. In January, 1978 he took over as General Manager and Chief Executive of Pakistan Burmah Shell/Shell Pakistan Ltd. which appointment he relinquished in April 1993. He was then appointed Chairman Shell Pakistan Ltd. from May 1993 to December 1996 Currently he holds the positions of Member Advisory Council, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources, Chairman Sui Southern Gas Co Ltd., Chairman Petroleum Institute of Pakistan, Chairman Lubricants Advisory Committee, Member Executive Council, International Gas Union Zurich and Member Permanent Council, World Petroleum Congresses, UK. He has attended various management courses in the UK and The Hague organized by Shell International Petroleum Co. and he has participated in many seminars and congresses locally and abroad on subjects of Management, Energy and Petroleum.

Mr. Ahmed is a graduate Chemical Engineer from the University of Edinburgh, UK. He started his professional career with Shell Chemicals (UK) Limited, England in 1970. For a period of 18 years, he worked in various professional capacities in the downstream Oil and Gas Sector in Pakistan including oil refining, gas processing and transmission. Later, for a period of 10 years, he was with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) where his responsibilities included the processing and administration of energy sector projects in various ADB member countries. He is at present Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Sui Southern Gas Company Ltd. (SSGC) SSGC is an integrated public sector gas company with a consumer base of over 1.5 million domestic, commercial and industrial consumers, spread over the Sindh and Balochistan provinces of Pakistan.

Mr. M. Zaffar Chida has been the General Manager of Shell Development & Offshore Pakistan BV since July 2001. Mr. Chida has over 30 years' international experience with the Royal Dutch Shell Group.

Arshad Nasar became the First Pakistani Country Head of Caltex Oil (Pakistan) Ltd when he was appointed Managing Director of the company in 1998 He joined Caltex Pakistan in early 1968 and has been holding positions of increasing responsibilities ever since He has wide experience and knowledge of the Petroleum Industry and possesses over 34 years of experience in Marketing, Sales, Operations, Trading, Planning. Credit & Banking Corporate & Public Affairs He has travelled extensively both within the country and overseas and has attended numerous national and international conferences, seminars and workshops. He holds a Masters degree in Economics and a Masters degree in Political Science respectively. He is Director on the Boards of Pakistan Refinery Ltd., Pak Arab Pipeline Company Ltd., Engro Chemical Pakistan Ltd., Pakistan Institute of Petroleum and The American Business Council.
