Rugby Union: Jarvis Makes Shock Move to Join Gwent

LEE JARVIS last night revealed he is joining the Gwent regional team for next season.
The Neath fly-half is the latest Welsh international to commit his future to Mike Ruddock's side, following his club colleague Jamie Ringer and Pontypridd's Michael Owen.
He says it was made clear to him that he didn't figure in the plans of the new Neath-Swansea region, who have secured the services of All Whites fly-half Gavin Henson on a three-year deal. Ace goal-kicker Jarvis said, ``I had a brief chat with Lyn Jones and the message was that they didn't really want me.
``He said Gavin Henson was going to be his No 1 fly-half and that there wasn't going to be a place for me.
``I am a bit disappointed with how it has ended for me at Neath, what with being out injured for the last couple of months and now this.
``I've played all the big games when I've been available this season and now I'm not wanted.
``Perhaps Lyn thinks I have become a bad player. I don't know.
``I'm just lucky that I've had other offers. Some players haven't been so fortunate.
``There was a bit of interest from across the border, but I wanted to stay in Wales and be part of the regional set-up.
``These are exciting times for Welsh rugby and I'm looking forward to the challenge at Gwent now. …
