Gordon Urges Adoption of Security & Safety Steps in Hotels and Resorts

To ensure the safe, convenient and enjoyable stay and travel of both local and foreign tourists, the Department of Tourism (DoT) issued a memorandum recently, to all hotels and resorts in the country for the adoption of safety and security measures in these establishments.
The memorandum enjoins all DoT-accredited hotels, resorts and other similar establishments to adopt and implement security measures and guidelines drafted by the Department.
Tight security measures should be implemented in all levels to assure the safety of tourists coming to the country, Gordon said. If we want tourists to come in our country, we must give them the assurance that we shall take care of them when they visit the Philippines, he added.
The DoT directive indicates that guests or visitors and joiners are properly registered in their respective accommodations, and that guest booking or information sheets are properly accomplished and verified through official documents like passport and other papers certifying their identification.
Hotels and resorts shall also conduct proper selection of their manpower and security personnel, as well as establishing an efficient identification system for all their personnel.
Public areas of the establishment should have a security spotter fully equipped with modern and high resolution imaging CCTV gadgets (surveillance cameras) manned by a security guard to monitor the movement and activities of establishment. …
