Enriching the Filipino Language for Effective Teaching in the New Curriculum
THE Department of Education (DepEd) and the Komisyon ng Wikang Filipino (KWF) are currently holding the 31st National Convention on the Filipino Language, in Baguio City up to May 16, 2003. With the theme Enriching the Filipino Language for Effective Teaching in the New Curriculum, the convention is also sponsored by the Pambansang Samahan ng mga Tagamasid at Tagapagtaguyod (National Association of Supervisors and Superintendents) and by the DepEd Bureaus of Elementary Education and of Secondary Education, as well as the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and the local government of Baguio City.
The convention aims to enhance the teachers' capabilities in teaching the Filipino language, provide a clearer understanding of the Filipino alphabet, provide knowledge and expertise on how to teach subjects that require the Filipino language at all levels, and provide more information on how to use Filipino effectively in writing.
With the participants expected to come from many public and private schools across the country, the National Convention's speakers come from reputable institutions - academic and research entities across the country who have developed the teaching materials as well as done the scholarly work which will assist Filipino language and other concerned teachers to improve their instructional strategies and update their knowledge of their specializations. …
