Air Pass Price Reduction Lowers Cost of Flying to Asia

In an unprecedented move, Cathay Pacific Airways has put its All Asia Pass, already a great bargain, on sale. For one low price, travelers can visit Hong Kong, Bali, Bangkok, Singapore, Malaysia and many other destinations.

The All Asia Pass sale offers economy-class travel to Hong Kong and any or all of 17 other Cathay Pacific cities in Asia from Los Angeles, San Francisco or New York within 21 consecutive days for $699 plus taxes, down from the usual $999. The pass must be purchased and ticketed by July 31.

Travel must occur between Sept. 1 and Nov. 30. All travel must originate from one of Cathay Pacific's three U.S. gateways: Los Angeles, New York (JFK) or San Francisco. All Asia Passes must be booked and ticketed through travel agents; Cathay Pacific will not accept direct consumer bookings.

Hyatt Tokyo offers introductory rate

The new 390-room Grand Hyatt Tokyo is offering introductory rates (until Sept. 15) at $249 per night Sunday to Thursday, and about $274 per night weekends. High speed Internet access is free and there's a nice fitness center and spa.

The hotel is in the new Roppongi Hills section of Tokyo, which is a destination in itself with more than 200 shops and restaurants and a 50-floor tower with an observation deck.

Quarantine ends for London-bound pets

Continental Airlines is the first U.S. Airline to be approved under the United Kingdom's Pet Share Scheme that eliminates the usual six-month quarantine for cats and dogs traveling to London.

Continental customers whose pets meet guidelines established by Great Britain's Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs may travel with their animals on Continental flights to London without the pet being quarantined.
