Recently a holidaymaker was awarded pounds 30,000 compensation when an pounds 88,000 holiday failed to live up to her expectations, and Kodak and Tesco had to pay a reported pounds 5,000 in compensation for lost holiday photos.
While these could be explained as 'summer silliness', law firm Eversheds argues it is an indication of our increasingly litigious society and businesses in the West Midlands should be fully prepared to deal with any such claims or disputes.
All consumer-facing businesses need to have clear guidelines in place to deal with an increased willingness from customers to seek legal redress if their company fails to deliver on their customer charters and advertising promises. A structured approach which looks at every aspect of the claim is necessary.
