Booze Binges May Kill Paul in the End

PAUL McGrath could die because of alcohol if he does not get help soon, a leading addiction expert warned yesterday.
Counselling psychologist Anne Marie McMahon, who works for St John of God, said it is crucial that the former Ireland captain gets treatment quickly.
She added: "If he keeps drinking he could die.
"He knows he has a problem but getting him to recognise it and to get help is another matter.
"It is as if he has not hurt enough and just keeps going on. It's almost as if he can't say stop yet.
"What he needs is a doctor to put to him straight, to tell him that if he does not stop then he is going to die.
"Normally in a case like this someone has to take the alcoholic and make them realise how bad the situation is and what can be done about it.
"The first step would be to find him somewhere to sleep. Then if a friend could get him to an AA meeting it would help. …
