"It's about the impact of style on a person," says Henry Roth, "and whether they are guilty or not guilty of allowing fashion to be a positive effect on their lives."
Justice may be blind, but it certainly isn't fashion-challenged when Judge Henry Roth presides over Style Court, a new courtroom show airing on E! Entertainment's Style Network. Based on the classic People's Court, the show hauls the fashion-challenged before Judge Roth and celebrity jurors for a verdict. If Roth delivers a guilty verdict, defendants receive either a modest or elaborate makeover--as needed--that will remedy the fashion faux pas that brought them into court in the first place.
Certainly, this is the year for gay-engineered makeovers. But Roth promises more than a tough-love dressing-down. "When you're talking about style, you're talking about a person's emotions," said Roth, 43, a New York-based bridal gown designer.
Roth's empathy is genuine. As the child of Poles who escaped the Holocaust to Australia, young Henry was a misfit in his adopted country. …
