WEST MIDLANDS SUCCESS STORIES 2003: Education: Decision Time for Students; Sutton Coldfield College Sixth Form Centre


PUPILS taking their exams in June 2004 should now be thinking about what to do once they get their results.

Will it be more beneficial to do A levels, vocational A levels or a vocational course?

Should they stay on in school, go to a local sixth form college or get a job?

Many factors will influence their decision, but Sutton Coldfield College Sixth Form Centre will provide many options and open up many career avenues.

Students can mix and match vocational and academic qualifications and choose from a wide range of courses and qualifications. The best way to find out would be to attend the next open evening for the Sixth Form Centre on Wednesday, January 28, 2004, between 4pm and 8pm.

There are many qualifications available to students in the sixth form: . AS/A (Advanced Subsidiary) levels (49 subjects) . Vocational A levels . BTEC National and First Diplomas . GNVQs at Foundation and Intermediate level . NVQs . GCSE resit programme (22 subjects) . ILEX, Amspar, LCCI, CACHE, NCFE, AAT, Sports Academy Academic courses, such as AS and A levels, develop students' theoretical knowledge andunderstanding of different subjects, whilst vocational courses are practical and provide students with work-related skills and experience. …
