Where is it? The Sir Thomas Hotel Bar lies inside an historic 19th-century building at the heart of the city centre.
What does it cost? Entrance is free at all times. The hotel above the bar has beds for 39 people and guests frequent thebar's facilities. But non-residents are equally welcome. Cocktails start from around pounds 5 and wine by the glass is around pounds 3, with pints starting from pounds 2.50.
What does it look like? The former bank building is beautiful and its conversion into a modern hotel has been done in a very tasteful manner. The bar, which offers modern trappings including a wide-screen television for football games,has elegant dark wood finishings with red trim,as well as marble-effect tables in the dining area. The historic setting of the bar creates an atmosphere unique among the drinking holes in the city centre.
What is the atmosphere like? If you want a rowdy crowd making plenty of noise, this bar is not for you. …
