Ever thought there was something missing from your life?

You have a professional job, a nice house and a fast car, but are you really happy?

No? Well the answer to your problems might lie in the bedroom rather than the boardroom.

That's according to the lingerie and sex toys retailer Ann Summers, which is highlighting the eye-catching National Orgasm Week to promote what could best be described as bettersex for a better life. And why Birmingham? Because, according to the company - run by Jacqueline Gold, daughter of Birmingham City co-owner David Gold - the city is bottom of the satisfaction league.

Only 15 per cent of people from Birmingham have had their best sex in the last year.

Compare that with tabletoppers Manchester and Dublin, with 30 per cent, or Cardiff, Newcastle and London's 20 per cent.

Many women might find the money and fame of the likes of Peter Stringfellow, Mick Jagger and Rod Stewart attractive assets. But these wrinkly old men must know a trick or two between the sheets to be able to attract a string of leggy blondes when most men of their age are attracting Saga Holiday reps.

Also consider some of the 'older' women celebrities who feature in the tabloid gossip columns.

They may have been under the surgeon's knife but few would doubt that having an army of toy boys providing for their every need would have a detrimental effect on their physical and mental appearance.

Nobody is suggesting that 85 per cent of Birmingham's middle-aged men should leave the wife and kids at the fourbedroomed semi and set off for a life of blond mullets, tigerstriped thongs and cocktails. …
