Industries Prodded on Efficient Energy Use

Unyielding with its goal to pull off cost savings of up to P3 billion ($784 million), the government is now knocking on the doors of industrial and commercial endusers for them to resort to efficient energy use, both in the area of power and oil consumption.
Energy Secretary Vincent S. Perez noted that the estimated annual cost savings is an ambitious target; but he noted this could be attainable if the public and all stakeholders would cooperate.
In every program, there is a target, the energy chief stressed as he expressed hope to achieve such magnitude savings from the energy conservation program unveiled by the government, dubbed as EC Life for Energy Conservation.
We encourage industrial and commercial establishments to voluntary monitor their energy consumption and implementation EE&C (energy efficiency and conservation) programs, Perez emphasized.
Initially, he noted that at least 24 business establishments have already committed to this initiative thru the so-called Partnership for Energy Responsive Companies (PERCS); namely DoLE Philippines, Inc., Passi Iloilo Sugar Central, Inc., Richmonde Hotel, Manila Galleria Suites, Corinthian Plaza Condominium, Makati Prince Tower Condominium Corporation and 18 other entities and energy service companies or ESCOs.
A government-private sector partnership called the Partnership for Energy Responsive Ecozones (PEREZ) is also being encouraged for industrial economic zones to voluntarily monitor their energy consumption.
Those that have already signified participation in this are: Microtel Inn and Suites; SHI Mfg, and Services Philippines; Integrated Device Technology, Toshiba Information Equipment Philippines, Inc. …
